When designing small condos, one of the biggest challenges is finding smart small condo dining room ideas that don’t compromise on comfort or style. In Project Hanna, the original layout left us with a generously sized living room, but barely a sliver of space for dining. The kitchen was small, the dining area was nearly non-existent, and the whole thing felt a bit out of balance.
To make better use of every square inch, I designed a built-in banquette that tucks right into the back of the kitchen peninsula. It’s one of my favourite small condo dining room ideas to date; saving precious space while creating two distinct zones that now feel just right. And with floor-to-ceiling windows as the backdrop, it’s become the perfect spot to sip coffee and take in the view.
We also added an oversized, textured light fixture to play up the ceiling height and soften all the hard finishes nearby. It ties the kitchen and dining space together so beautifully—proof that sometimes the smallest spaces end up being the most thoughtful.
